Well racing fans here we go again.Since the first official race of 2008 for UMTR South found Edgewater better equipped for snorkeling and swimming than racing due to a mondo flood,We begin our journey on April 26th,the second race of the season held at National Trails Raceway. Jumping right into Quick Stick info...The low-qualifier of the day was that "Lucky Dawg",Steve Grubbs at a 9.19.Great job,Dawg!!now biting into second round action of Quick Stick......Alexandria,Ky's Tony King in his '68 Camaro won over West Harrison,In's Jay Grieshop in his '91 Mustang.Tony ran a 10.45 on a 10.32 dial in while Jay ran a 12.09 on a 11.94 dial in.Harrison,Oh's "Camaro" Dave Stehlin whipped out a 9.63 on a 9.58 dial in with his '79 Z28 to advance over Norb Farmer from West Harrison in his '72 Nova. Norb ran a 10.38 on a 10.42 dial in.Crittenden,Ky's Steve"Lucky Dawg"Grubbs tore down the track running a 9.14 on a 9.18 dial in with his '65 Malibu taking the win over Florence,Ky's "Mean" Gene Manning in his '05 Caddy.Gene ran a 12.08 a 12.37 dial in.Then Cincinnati,Oh's "Flyin"Ryan Naegele took a single run in his '73 Camaro running a 10.40 on a 10.31 dial in. What a round!!
Round 3 action saw Ryan Naegele of Cincy meet up with Harrison's Dave Stehlin in a battle of the 1970's Camaros.Ryan ran a 10.38 right smack on the number with a dial in of 10.38 to advance to the finals,While Dave ran a fantastic 9.83 on a 9.62 dial in.That was some racing,guys!Next came the battle of the '60's...'65 Malibu versus'68 Camaro.Alexandria's "Fast" Tony King in his camaro put up a great 10.39 on a 10.36 dial in to edge by Crittenden's Steve Grubbs and his Malibu who ran a close 9.24 on a 9.17 dial in.Excitement!!
Finals came revving up with a showdown of Camaros.Tony King's'68 versus Ryan Naegele's'73.Once again it would be a perfect run right on the dial in with Tony running a 10.37 on a 10.37 to get the win over Ryan who ran a brilliant 10.29 on a 10.31 but saw that pesky red light in his starting lane.Congrats to Tony and thanks to all the Quick Stick racers for a breath taking show.
Can you stand some more excitement?Everyone check your heart monitors because now it's time for Street Stick!! Starting with Round 2...Alexandria,Ky's "Mad"Matt Johnson and his '06 'Stang ran it out at a 14.29 on a 14.15 dial in to win over Florence,Ky's "Mean"Gene Manning and his'05 Cadillac.Gene ran a 12.65 on a 12.37 dial in.Next came Jeremy"1fearedneon"Murray from Norwalk,Oh in his '98 Neon to take the win in his lane with a 15.32 on a 15.19 dial in,his opponent Loveland,Oh's Jeff Tom and his '06 Mustang saw red on the starting line with a foul start..Leesburg,Oh's "Racin"Jason Brunck and his'93 Mustang dominated over Newark,Oh's Tim Porter and his'70 Challenger.Jason ran a 11.91 on a 11.83 great run.While Tim ran a close 13.62 on a 13.55 dial in.Great job,guys!!Alexandria,Ky's Craig Storn ended the second round on a single run,putting up a 14.18 on a 13.60 dial in with his'05 Mustang.
Round 3 started out with Mustang Mayhem and the Battle of Alexandria as Craig Storn met up with his friend Matt Johnson,both from Alexandria,both running Mustangs,bragging rights on the line here,people and...Craig took the round running a 14.07 on a 14.15 dial in,while Matt ran a 14.16 on a 14.15 dial in but saddly, red lit in his start.Next Leesburg's Jason Brunck in his '93 Mustang met up with and won over Norwalk's Jeremy Murray and his'98 Neon.Jason ran a 12.17 on a 11.83 dial in ,While Jeremy ran a losing 18.56 on a 15.22 dial in when his car broke during the race,Don't worry guys he'll be back good as new and ready to exact his revenge.Jason cruised into the finals against Craig Storn.
Street Stick Finals time people,hold your breath and stay on the edge of your seat until this ride comes to a complete stop,please!!.Once again a meeting of Mustangs.Leesburg's Jason Brunck in his '93 Mustang just edged out Alexandria's Craig Storn and his '05 Mustang for the win.Jason ran an awesome 11.91 on a 11.83 dial in ,While Craig ran a super 14.03 on a 13.85 dial in.Congrats to Jason and Thanks to all the Steet Stick Racers for an awesome race.Special Thanks to all the racers and their teams for a Monumental race.See you next time.........at the races.
Racing Results from May 24, 2008Racing enthusiasts eagerly gathered on May 24th at O'Reilly Raceway Park in beautiful Indianapolis to enjoy UMTR South's fourth race of the season. Street Stick action started it off at the raceway,home of the Big Go, and kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
Let's jump right to Round 2 and Here We Go......Kettering's Mike Field's 85 Turbo car pounced on Alexandria's Matt Johnson's Mustang.Mike ran a 11.12 on a 11.00 to a 12.10 on a 12.00 posted by Matt.Rick Terry from Vandalia,Oh with his'93 Mustang took out Florence,Ky' s Gene Manning and his '05 Caddy.12.26 on a 11.95 from Rick with a losing 14.75 on a 12.16 dial from Gene. Steve Braden's '03 Cobra from Miamisburg made a deadly strke and outran Tom Boehmer's '87 300ZX from Cincinnati.Steve posted a 11.80 on a 11.40 dial in while Tom ran a 18.38 on a 17.75 dial in.Jason Brunck of Leesburg in his '93 LX beat Todd Stroufe from Columbia City,In in his '00 Camaro. Jason ran a 11.82 on a close dial in of 11.84 while Todd ran a 11.90 on a 11.94 dial in but old Captain red light decided this one when he came on in the Camaro's lane.Great racing by all.
Onto Round 3.....Leesburg's Jason Brunck was able to defeat Vandalia's Rick Terry with a .002 reaction time and a 11.89 on a 11.81 dial in.Jason soared into the Finals with his'93 Mustang LX.who would he meet up with, you say? well none other than Steve Braden from Miamisburg as he won over Kettering's Mike Field with another great reaction time of 0.15 and a 11.54 on a 11.40 dial in to the losing 11.31 on a 10.95 dial in. Again some great racing !!
In the Final....It was total excitement and a battle of fast reaction times.Steve Braden got the jump with a .014 reaction time but lost the battle when Jason Brunck went a 11.91 on a 11.84 dial in to Steve's 11.56 on a 11.40 dial in.Fantastic job to all racers!! A Big Congrats to Jason Brunck from Leesburg,Ohio on his Win.
Quick Stick at the Big Go had 21 cars led by Tim Murphy's '69 Shelby Mustang from New Palestine,Indiana.The owner of The Fab Shop pushed his mustang through the paces to a 8.84 at 149.22 miles per hour!!
Let's Jump to Round 3 where there were 6 competitors left.Alexandria Kentucky's Tony King in his '68 Camaro won the round over Cincinnati's Rich Bowling in his '66 Fairlane.Tony ran a 10.39 on a 10.27 dial in while Rich ran a losing 11.88 on a 11.80 dial in.New Haven Indiana's Jeff Castle racing his '68 Camaro ran a 10.96 on a 10.89 dial in and took the win over Cincinnati's Ron Sexton who ran his '68 Chevelle a 10.49 on a 10.44 dial in,That's some Racing,Folks!!The last pair saw West Harrison,Indiana's Jay Grieshop in his '91 Mustang cut a .001 light and run a 12.20 on a 12.09 dial in, but he didn't even need that reaction time as Cleves,Ohio's Eric Halverstadt in his '73 Vega saw red,literally as that foul red light was tripped with his early start.
Onto Round 4 Excitement....Tony King with his '68 Camaro ran a 11.47 on a 10.27,he saw that his competitor Jay Grieshop in his '91 Mustang saw that irritating red light foul come on as his reaction time was just a little too good.Jeff Castle took a bye run in his '68 Camaro running a 11.12 on a 10.91 dial in.
WooHoo What a Final.....Final Round In Quick Stick was exciting .New Haven's Jeff Castle versus Alexandria's Tony King in a battle of the '68 Camaros.Jeff ran a 11.01 on a 10.98 dial in to capture the win over Tony who ran a respectable 10.36 on a 10.30 dial in.Great racing to all. Congrats to the Winner Jeff and the Runner up Tony and thanks for another great race..see you next time at the races.

June 7,2008 at the races.Here we go with results from the UMTR race from Edgewater on a sticky June day.There was no place better to be than down by the Great Miami River for some racing and fun,let's jump into Quick Stick Round 2......
Round 2.... The first pair got it started as Alexandria,Ky's "Fast"Tony King and his '68 Camaro took on Blanchester,Oh's Chuck"Wagon" Martin in his Ford wagon.Tony took the win running a 10.48 on a 10.50 dial in as Chuck redlit in his lane before running a 12.73 on a 12.84 dial in.West Harrison,In's "Rad" Ray Farmer in his '67 Camaro advanced to next round over Cincinnati,Oh's Bob"Bossman" Miefert and his '55 Chevy. Ray ran a fantastic 10.47 on a 10.44 dial in.Bob ran right on the money at 11.53 on a 11.53 dial in but unfortunately red lit right before that great run.Next up to advance was "Notorious" Norb Farmer from West Harrison,In in his '72 Nova,who took the win over the '66 Fairlane of "Racin'" Rich Bowling of Cincinnati,Oh.Norb ran a 11.66 on a 10.41 dial in,while Rich ran a 14.59 on a 11.88 dial in but red lit in the process.Next up it was Harrison,Oh's "Gear-Jammin'"Jack Detzel in his '68 Camaro.Jack drove right into the 3rd round running a 11.26 on a 11.23 dial in,in the lane next to him Cleves'Oh's "Jumpin" John Hoebel and his '80 Monza.John ran a 9.32 on a 9.22 dial in.Great racing gentlemen!!!!The last pair saw Steve"Lucky Dawg" Grubbs from Crittenden,Ky in his '65 Malibu make it through to the 3rd round when he defeated Carlisle,Oh's "Diamond" Don Pearson and his '66 El Camino.Steve ran a 9.17 on a 9.21 dial in,while Don ran a 11.51 on a 11.50 dial in but saw that little red light on the starting line.
Round 3....was an all Chevy showdown.First pair father versus son as Norb Farmer and his'72 Nova met up with Ray Farmer and his '67 Camaro.Can you say family bragging rights?Not really as both Farmers had plenty to be proud of as Ray ran a great10.47 on a 10.44 dial in to advance to round 4 over his father Norb who ran an equally impressive 10.67 on a 10.41 dial in.Great Job to the whole Farmer Family!!the next pair showed some racing perfection as"Fast" Tony King in his '68 Camaro did some mighty fine racing to continue in the show over Steve"Lucky Dawg" Grubbs and his'65 Malibu.Tony ran a winning 10.480 on a 10.48 dial in while Steve ran a 9.165 on a 9.16 dial in.That was spectacular!!!"Gear-Jammin" Jack Detzel had a single run in his '68 Camaro but he wasn't messing around,no cruisin's down the track for Jack as he laid down a 11.17 ona 11.21 dial in.Great round Guys!!
Round 4...belonged to the late '60's Camaros....First up was Jack Detzel and his'68 against Tony King and his '68.Again a really close race as both drivers ran right on the number with Jack taking the win running a 11.16 on a 11.16 dial in while Tony ran a 10.47 on a 10.47 dial in.Ray Farmer had a single run in his '67 putting up a 10.60 on a 10.44 dial in.and so onto the....
Quick Stick Finals..... The '68 Camaro of Harrison's Jack Detzel versus the '67 Camaro of West Harrison's Ray Farmer.Both racers broke out running faster than their dial in but it was Jack who took the win running a 11.12 on a 11.16 dial in over Ray's 10.39 on a 10.44 dial in.Thanks for some fabulous racing and congrats to Jack on the win.!!!

Round 2..... Jumping right into Round 2 where once again that red-light prevailed over many racing pairs.First up was a pair of Mustangs Russellville,In's Derek Wamsley's '87 advance to round 3 over Cincinnati,Oh's Deron Prewitt,Jr's '96.Derek ran a 19.64 on a 11.44 dial in while Deron Jr ran a 18.06 on a 16.84 dial in after red-lighting on the start. Next uo Norwalk,Oh's Jeremy"1fearedneon" Murray and his '98 Neon move onto the next round over Cincinnati,Oh's Deron Prewitt,Sr and his '96 Mustang.Jeremy ran a consistent 15.70 on a 15.65 dial in while Deron,Sr ran a 17.66 on a 17.70 dial in,Close!!.Next up Miamisburg,Oh's Eric Toft and his '05 Saab,That's right I said Saab took the win over Alexandria,Ky's Craig"Stormin" Storn and his '05 Mustang.Eric ran a super 15.92 on a 15.86 dial in while Craig ran a 13.15 on a 13.06 dial in only to see red with a foul start.Next a couple of 2000's Mustangs battled it out.Harrison,Oh's "Jumpin"Jay Dold and his '03 Mustang were still standing when the dust cleared to enter into the 3rd round over Amelia,Oh's "Drivin" Danielle Harris and her '04 Mustang.Jay ran a 12.15 on a 11.77 dial in while Danielle ran a 12.95 on a 12.42 dial in but also red lit on her start,Oh my!! Dan"the man"Roedel from Goshen,Oh,formerly of Western Hills and his '64 Falcon"Purple Haze" made it to the next round by defeating Miamisburg,Oh's "Slammin" Steve Braden and his'03 Mustang.Dan ran a 14.13 on a 13.65 dial in and Steve ran a 13.36 on a 12.00 dial in. Last up was Middletown,Oh's "Cruisin" Craig Metcalf and his Mustang versus the '85 Mustang of Kettering,Oh's "Mighty" Mike Field.Craig took the win running a 14.20 on a 13.76 dial in while Mike had an impressive run of 11.35 on a 11.05 dial in,if only that red light hadn't come on!!!
Round 3...... started off with a bang and a close race.Derek Wamsley and his '87 Mustang made it to round 4 by running past Jay Dold and his '03 Mustang.Derek ran a 11.55 on a 11.44 dial in and Jay ran a 11.68 on a 11.90 dial in,Great Racing!!.Next came the "Purple Haze"'64 Falcon of Dan"the Man"Roedel against the '98 Neon of Jeremy"1fearedneon"Murray.How did it end??Everyone knows Hendrix's "Purple Haze" came before Neon lights well Roedel's Purple haze came before neon!!Dan ran a 13.73 on a 13.65 dial in and Jeremy ran a too fast 15.61 on a 15.70 dial in,great job,Guys!!Last but not least Eric "the Equalizer"Toft and his'05 Saab outran"Cruisin"Craig Metcalf's Mustang making it to round 4 .Eric ran a 16.00 on a 15.86 dial in and Craig ran a 14.06 on a 13.76 dial in,Awesome!.
Round 4..... In Round 4 came the most unlikeliest of matchups and a single run.Eric Toft's '05 Saab put up a great number to win over Dan Roedel's "Purple Haze" '64 Falcon.Eric ran a 15.92 on a 15.86 dial in ,while Dan ran a 13.88 on a 13.65 dial in.Derek Wamsley cruised down the track in his '87 Mustang on his single run saving parts for the final.He ran a 17.92 on a 11.44 dial in.
Final Round Street Stick......Already?!! Russellville's Derek Wamsley and his '87 Mustang against Miamisburg's Eric Toft and his '05 Saab.Derek once again cruised to finish line and the win when his opponent Eric,redlit. Derek ran a 16.77 on a 11.44 dial in while Eric ran a 17.87 on a 15.86 dial in having seen red in his starting lane.
